We host a number of free Points Of Interest as well as providing a disc/download with a huge collection on. Our Points Of Interest are well categorised, and we provide POI's by "brand" as well as by "group". This helps searching and using them easier. You may only shop at Tesco, but when running out of fuel - you will settle for any petrol station !

Single POI Files - these are standard POI files that are created around a single brand. In other words you would find B&Q, Ikea, Gyms, Pubs, Clubs and so forth within this set.

POI Collections - these are our own development, initially developed due to frustrations with multiple searches.  They offer an easy and effective way to find what you want without searching lots of POI categories. It also ensures that your tomtom won't slow down trying to display too many POIs. You will find for instance a DIY collection made up of B&Q, Homebase, Wickes, Do It All, Focus etc..

WHAT IS A POI ?

We get asked by quite a few people:

"What a POI is and why they would need one on their sat-nav units ? " 

A POI - is simply a "Point Of Interest" that is a place you might want to visit. Its different from a postcode, address, co-ordinates or favourite that you have on your sat-nav because its already "coded". That is we have already plotted where it is for you.

It also holds extra information - like a phone number, description, opening times, road name, brand or shop name. To use a POI all you do is pull up a list of the places you want and select the one or brand you need.

This is very useful, for instance when you are driving along and find you are running out of petrol on the M4. You don't know where the next services are or indeed the postcode or name of towns nearby.

You just bring up a search for petrol station POI and your sat-nav will locate a list of the nearest Petrol Stations for you - on and just off the motorway. 

That's how good quality and up to date POIs can really help.
